  • Fret Work Services

    Fret Work Services

    Why Your Frets Need Attention

Over time and with extensive playing, the frets on your instrument can wear down, becoming flat or dented. This wear leads to uneven frets, causing an annoying buzz when you play certain notes. Regularly checking your frets for signs of wear can help maintain the quality of your sound.

    Our Fret Work Options

We offer two comprehensive fret work services: Level and Redress, or Complete Refret.

    Level and Redress

If your frets have enough material left and aren’t excessively worn, our Level and Redress service can restore them to optimal condition:

    • Neck Straightening and Fret Leveling: We straighten the neck and level all the frets.
    • Fret Recrowning: We round the tops of the frets to ensure smooth playability.
    • Polishing: We polish the frets, making them look and feel as good as new.

    Complete Refret

For frets that are too worn down, we recommend our Complete Refret service. This process involves:

    • Fret Removal: We carefully remove the old frets from your instrument.
    • New Fret Installation: We offer both nickel silver and stainless steel frets, installed with precision.
    • Leveling and Crowning: We level the new frets and round the tops for a perfect playing surface.
    • Edge Filing and Smoothing: We file and smooth the edges for comfort and playability.
    • Polishing: We polish the new frets to a beautiful shine, enhancing both appearance and performance.

    Included in Our Service

Our fret work services include the cost of new frets, ensuring your instrument receives the highest quality care.

We all hate that buzz. Check your frets for flat areas. This causes that annoying buzz you will hear when playing certain notes. When it comes to fret work you have two options Fret level and redress or complete refret Level and redress If the frets aren’t too low and there is enough material then…

  • Setup

    Setup

Why do I need a setup?

Over time and under certain conditions your guitar may feel uncomfortable or even impossible to play. Why is that you ask?

String tension, climate and temperature work well together to make your guitar unpleasant. This is very off putting and discourages new and younger players.

Simply putting on fresh string and tuning to pitch is not going to help your guitar sound and play as amazing as it should.

This is why a proper setup is important.

How do I know if I need a setup?

Are the strings far from the frets, making the guitar difficult to play? when you tune your guitar to pitch, do you get the same note, in tune at the 12th fret? does the neck look straight?

These are usually the first signs that your beloved instrument is in need of some TLC. We have bucket loads of that TLC for you.

What do we do when we see your guitar?

    • First thing we do is give the instrument a thorough clean and polish
    • The fretboard and any other exposed wood gets feed some good oil to keep it from drying out and cracking
    • We make  sure the neck is straight before string tension as well as after.
    • Out with the old strings and in with the new*
    • We adjust the action, making the string as close to the fretboard as possible without buzzing. This makes it comfortable and easy to play
    • We set the intonation, keeping your instrument in tune no matter where along the neck you play.
    • Then we give it a nice jam to make sure it feels and sounds as good as it is meant to,
    • After the Jam session we give it a few hours to a day to adjust under the tension of the new strings (depeding on conditions)
    • Once it passes final inspection we giive you a call to say it’s ready to go home.
